hmmm... there's probably an INFINITELY more humane way to do this...

i get that they're not killing them and they end up fine, but imagine the trauma of you, a mammal, going through a long ass tube, not knowing what's going to happen to you, and you can't breathe. 🤷‍♀️

They get misted with water throughout the thing, and it results in fewer injuries than the 'ladder' method. Also, it's a fish. It never knows what's going to happen to it at any point in time throughout its life.

As a hobbyist fish keeper, I'd say this actually looks pretty humane. By giving the fish tunnel vision (literally), you are reducing stress by reducing fear of predators. The fish stays moist and therefore able to breathe throughout its relatively short trip (this video makes it look like they’re in the tube for a long time, but it’s usually like 20 seconds), unlike small carrier containers which either have a limited air supply or need holes and can cause splash/spillage.

And the main alternative to the tube - which is not a container (although trap and haul is a thing) but a ladder - is notoriously bad at doing its job. Meanwhile the tube here is expected to save ecosystems by working better than the ladder.

So instead of going off on your completely uneducated opinion about what is and isn’t humane to fish (which are completely different animals with different needs than mammals ffs), you actually do your research. Or just sit down and shut up bc you’re flat out wrong. The fish tube is good. Deal with it.
